The 5 Steps to Catapulting Your Google Ranking and Driving Tons More Traffic to Your Website
The key to maximising your SEO lies in understanding how the Search Engines (eg Google, Yahoo, etc) operate. The pervading principle can be all boiled down to one word – RELEVANCY!
The way the search engines succeed is by making sure that when a searcher types in a set of words (called ‘keywords or keyword phrase’), that the pages displayed are the most relevant for those particular words.
So, in one sense, your job is simple. It is to identify the keyword phrases relevant for your goods and services and then to convince the search engines that particular pages on your website are very relevant for each of those keyword phrases.
This concept of giving the search engines what they want is reflected in steps 2, 3 and 4 below.
But there is one more thing that you need to focus on. As with anything that you seek to change, it helps to be clear about what it is that you wish to achieve (step 1) and then to monitor how you are going and adjust accordingly (step 5).
So there are 5 steps that you need to focus on to maximise your SEO.
- Make Decisions and Set Goals
- Identify and Insert the Right Keywords in Your Website - Make sure you tell the search engines which keywords are relevant for your products and services by inserting those words in your website in the appropriate way.
- Create Readable Website Structure - Make sure your website is easy for the search engines to read (also called ‘crawl’)
- Generate Inbound Links – Generate relevant inbound links (ie links from other websites to your website). This tells the search engines how important your site is.
- Monitor and Adjust – Keep a track of how you are going and what changes produce the best results in terms of your ranking and sales out the door.
